Behind the Art: Designing a Yharnam Poster from Bloodborne
Share
A City Drenched in Atmosphere — and Blood
When we set out to design our Yharnam poster, we didn’t just want something cool to hang on the wall. We wanted a piece that felt like it belonged in the world of Bloodborne — something that could have been pulled straight from a Hunter’s workshop or a dusty room in the Cathedral Ward.
Yharnam isn’t just a city — it’s a nightmare made real, and capturing that atmosphere was the heart of the creative process.
Fear the Old Blood: The Core Theme
We knew the phrase “Fear the Old Blood” had to guide everything. It’s more than a warning in the game — it’s the foundation of Bloodborne’s lore. Our design started with that concept. The old blood posters in the Healing Church would never advertise openly — they’d be cryptic, sacred, symbolic. So we worked in visual elements that feel like religious iconography warped by something ancient and terrible.
The influence of the Healing Church and their secret experiments echoes in the muted tones, gothic framing, and veiled figures.

Architectural Inspiration: The City as a Character
One of the main visual pillars of the design is Yharnam’s skyline — a sprawling silhouette of spires, chimneys, and crumbling cathedrals. When people search for Bloodborne Yharnam art, what they’re really drawn to is this haunting architecture that looms like it's watching you. Our poster channels that feeling with heavy contrast and dense visual layering, echoing how the city folds in on itself — both physically and spiritually.
We leaned into the Victorian Gothic aesthetic, using long shadows, narrow structures, and textures inspired by oil painting and tarnished metal.
From Game to Wall: Bloodborne Art with Meaning
We didn’t want to make another generic Bloodborne poster. This is a tribute to Yharnam, crafted by someone who’s walked those cursed streets too many times to count. The goal was to create something that works both as fan art and as a piece of dark video game wall decor — something that catches the eye whether or not you’ve played the game.
It’s also why the text is minimal and the imagery does the talking. Yharnam art should feel alive (and a little unsettling).

A Piece for the True Hunter
If you’re a fan of Bloodborne, this isn’t just a poster — it’s a memory. A shrine. A way to keep the Hunt close, even when you’re offline.

This print was made by fans, for fans of Gaming Posters — designed to stand beside your collection, your gaming setup, or wherever you want a reminder that somewhere, the bells of Yharnam still toll.

The Nightmare Never Ends
Bloodborne is timeless because it gives us more than just a game — it gives us a world. Designing this Yharnam poster was our way of paying tribute to that world. And if you’ve ever stood on the Great Bridge or listened to the distant howling in Central Yharnam, you already know why that matters.
Because no matter how many times we wake from the dream, we always return to Yharnam.
