Some days call for the sofa and nothing else. This sleepy black cat clutches a remote control, drawn in classic Japanese ukiyo-e style, where woodblock-inspired textures, delicate ink linework and a Zen-like composition meet a very modern kind of exhaustion.
It is the collision of old and new that makes it so funny: a centuries-old art tradition, and a cat who has clearly given up on the day and settled in for a box set. The ukiyo-e influence gives it real craft and character, while the subject makes it instantly relatable. It adds a relaxed, good-humoured feel to any room.
It is a natural fit for a living room, lounge, home office or bedroom, wherever someone likes to put their feet up. Cat lovers, fans of Japanese woodblock prints and committed sofa-day enthusiasts will appreciate the joke, and it makes a fun gift for birthdays, Christmas or a new home. Choose your favourite background colour and size, and give your lounge the patron saint of lazy evenings.
