Ruling the household is exhausting work. In this print a weary black cat sits on a grand chair with gold accents, drawn in traditional Japanese ukiyo-e style with woodblock-inspired textures and delicate ink linework.
The joke lands instantly: all the grandeur of a throne, and a monarch who simply cannot be bothered. That mix of regal pose and worn-out expression gives it plenty of humour, while the ukiyo-e styling keeps it elegant and artful. It brings real personality to a room and makes a brilliant talking point, especially for anyone who knows exactly who is in charge at home.
Hang it in a living room, study, hallway or as the star of a gallery wall. It is a brilliant choice for cat lovers, fans of ukiyo-e and anyone with a cat that rules the house, even when far too tired to bother. It makes a witty birthday, Christmas or housewarming gift. Choose your favourite background colour and size, and crown your wall with a little feline royalty.
